Background
Bega Valley Shire Council is seeking community feedback on the draft Public Interest Disclosure (PID) Policy 6.26 and Public Interest Disclosure Procedure 6.26.01.
The draft documents have been reviewed and updated to ensure ongoing compliance with the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 (NSW) and alignment with current guidance issued by the NSW Ombudsman. The review aims to strengthen Council's governance framework by providing clear guidance on reporting serious wrongdoing, outlining responsibilities, establishing reporting pathways, and ensuring appropriate protections for people who make public interest disclosures.
The draft policy and procedure support Council's commitment to transparency, accountability and ethical conduct by providing a clear framework for receiving, assessing and managing public interest disclosures.
How to provide your feedback
Council invites interested community members and stakeholders to review the draft documents and provide feedback during the exhibition period. All submissions received during the exhibition period will be considered and responded to.
